Rare disease took him before his time - whatever ‘his time’ means? Do any of us know what time we have?
However, my Bruv was loved….not just by me but by many
others. He was a quiet, gentle, thoughtful and slightly shy individual. He was without malice. He would not have even wanted to
hurt his enemies. He was human in the very best sense,
but that meant that he was mortal too.
He always said he would go before me. How did he know?
His love of culture, the world and humanity … to him, people
of all nations were brothers just as he was my brother… If the world was
populated with people like him then there would be no conflict, no wars, only
love.
Why did he have to go?
Because we all have to go? That is the way of things.
What did he pass on? Well, to those who knew him, fond memories of a gentle, kind, intelligent and honest man. To me, especially happy memories about the things we did together. We were more than just brothers. We were mates too.

For most of us, perhaps all we can do is pass on the baton and hope that the values we express and defend in our lifetime might have a positive influence on the future. If my brother's values were to prevail then we would have good reason to be confident about the future of humankind… that anger, selfishness, wars, prejudice, bigotry, racism, local and religious quarrels, national partitions and continental conflicts would someday be considered archaic.
We will get there in the end. I know! My brother told me, and he knew about these things.
See you soon Bruv, and watch over me in the mountains.
